As many of you know, Mickey Joyce has been around Sutton United for decades, first as a player and later as a Director, dedicating an enormous amount of time, energy and passion to a club he genuinely loves.
His contribution to Sutton United cannot be measured simply in years served.
As a player, he created memories that still live on today, scoring an incredible 219 goals in 405 appearances and becoming one of the club’s true legends. He was deservedly inducted into the Sutton United Hall of Fame and remains one of the great names in our history.
Mickey has always been a wonderful supporter of the Sutton United Foundation.
Our Head of Foundation, Bobby Childs would like to sincerely thank Mickey for his contribution as a Trustee of the Foundation and for the support, positivity and wisdom he has shared over the years. He has always taken the time to understand what the foundation does, the ethos behind our work and he has championed that at every opportunity, truly helping to strengthen the relationship between the Foundation and the football club itself.
His genuine enthusiasm has meant a huge amount to everyone connected to the Foundation..
Mickey stands down from his role, as the time has come when looking after yourself and your family becomes the most important job of all and we truly wish him all the best for the future.
Although, somehow, I suspect we haven’t seen the last of him and we have a feeling he’ll still be found parking cars at Gander Green Lane for some time yet. 🚗💛💙
Thank you, Mickey.
Your energy, kindness and unwavering commitment have left a lasting mark on us all.
*Sutton United Hall of Fame note: Mickey Joyce is one of Sutton United‘s great modern-era players, scoring 219 goals in 405 appearances, including a club-record nine goals in an 11-1 victory over Leatherhead in 1982.
